Not much time passed since Pluto first entered Aquarius. The ingress (astrology term that means that a planet is entering a sign) of a slow-moving planet is a significant occurrence, especially on a collective level.
It signifies a new period where the planet meets new challenges, but also new opportunities. This new energy refreshes our interests, and our concerns, but also the orientation of the specific energy of the planet as it is applied in our lives.
In this case, Pluto is a very strong, powerful influence. It is literally about power, but also about resources, on which power usually depends. When Pluto enters a new sign, there is a shift of this powerful energy and changes directions. Together with power, there are considerations of corruption, the uncovering of such matters, and a transformation, in the depths of society. These all are particularly seen in the area governed by the sign that Pluto is transiting. The collective unconscious is also often the source of these changes, but with Pluto repression of certain qualities on a collective level is also possible.
Some notes on the the timeline of Pluto's ingress: March 2023, was the first time that Pluto entered Aquarius, but due to its retrograde movement regressed into Capricorn for a short while, to re-enter Aquarius in January 2024. There will be one more regression into Capricorn in September 2024 and will enter Aquarius for the last time in November 2024. The transit technically starts at the first ingress, just for a while it is still also dealing with Capricorn's issues. This Pluto transit in Aquarius will last up to January 2044, so its energies are going to be with us for a long time. There will be highs and lows, positive and challenges depending on the aspects, which will be explained at that time.
Just around the first time Pluto entered Aquarius, I was starting to wonder what this would mean for us and what would be the challenges that we, as humans are going to face, but also which would be the opportunities. For me, it was quite clear that this would be in some way related to areas that Aquarius rules and are currently of concern.
Contemporary interests of Aquarius that I can think of are related to the Internet, globalization, networking, NGOs, activism, groups, and large organizations. All these are harbors of power, but also of corruption and we will have to deal with these issues a lot during the next 20 years. All these concepts rose significantly years ago when Uranus and Neptune were transiting the sign of Aquarius. Now Pluto is about to transform our experience in these areas.
Even though I did understand that something powerful would arise concerning the internet and technology, it didn’t occur to me just one year ago, with the first entrance of Pluto in Aquarius, that this would bring AI so strongly into the foreground. Although AI isn’t something new, it is just now starting to emerge and is becoming accessible to all of us. I associate this with the transit of Pluto in Aquarius. We have just become aware of the powerful applications and how AI makes our work easier and enhances our qualities. However, at the same time, there are numerous ethical considerations and challenges that we, as humans, would need to sort out.
I’m sure that I will be revisiting this subject from time to time because each of Pluto’s aspects and events will shed more light on its journey into the sign of Aquarius. Of course, Pluto’s transit isn’t exclusively about AI, and its energy applies to all other areas mentioned above. I’m sure now that AI will be one of the central concerns, but also opportunities in the years to come, according to this transit of Pluto in Aquarius.
